Long Beach Market & Deli
20110 Pineville Rd, Long Beach · (228) 864-1933
Family-owned Asian fusion deli (Korean, Vietnamese, Cajun, vegetarian). Patio, free wifi, menu changes often. Hours often Tue to Sun roughly 9 or 10 to 8 (confirm if heading over).
Order plant-based
- Falafel wrap - homemade falafel, spring mix, tomato, red onion, cucumber; ask for no tzatziki, keep the side hummus and pita
- Pita chips with hummus / pita with hummus
- Vegetable fried rice - confirm no egg in the wok
- Veggie summer roll - ask them to hold spicy sriracha mayo if that is how the roll is dressed
- House salad - spring mix, tomato, cucumber, carrot, red onion; skip cheese; Italian is the safest dressing ask (ranch and honey mustard are not plant-based)
Their own site says the menu updates frequently. For a WFPB day, favor falafel, hummus, salad, and rice dishes over fried sides.
Samurai Japanese Cuisine
2511 25th Ave, Gulfport · (228) 214-4049
Family regular. Sushi bar is the quieter working-lunch side. Strong plant-based maki list when you stick to vegetable rolls.
Order plant-based
- Edamame
- Avocado roll
- Vegetable roll (asparagus, avocado, cucumber, pickled vegetables)
- Asparagus roll, cucumber roll, kanpyo roll, oshinko roll, shiitake mushroom roll, yamagobo roll
- Vegetarian sushi regular - assorted veg nigiri plus a vegetable roll (menu listing); still confirm no fish garnish
Ask before ordering: agedashi tofu (often dashi / bonito), tofu steak (buttery teriyaki as written), vegetable tempura (batter may include egg), garden salad dressing, miso vs other soups. Seaweed salad is usually fine; still worth a quick confirm. Net: maki + edamame with confidence, ask on kitchen items.
Basil's Cafe
5130 Beatline Rd, Long Beach · (228) 357-5269
Vietnamese and Thai. Best everyday plant-based sit-down in Long Beach from your guide. Calm enough for a working lunch when open.
Order plant-based
- Pho Rau Cai (P9) - vegetable pho; ask if the broth is vegetable-only (many pho broths start from bone stock) and request no fish sauce on the side
- Vegetable fried rice - ask for no egg
- Veggie egg rolls / spring rolls - confirm filling and that they are not brushed with egg wash
- Thai curries (green, massaman, panang, red, yellow) - ask for tofu or vegetables only; confirm coconut milk base and no fish sauce / shrimp paste
- Small bowl veggie soup - listed on delivery menus; still ask about the stock
Your Sep 2026 vegan pass already flagged Basil's as the real pick in town. Broth and fish sauce are the usual gotchas; tofu curry and veg fried rice (no egg) are the lower-drama orders.
